With a market share of between 70% and 80% in the worldwide commercial drone sector, DJI is the global leader in developing and manufacturing civilian drones and aerial imaging technology. Today the company announced the launch of its new AGRAS T20 drone (available for pre-order in select countries). The T20 offers an improved precision spraying solution to farmers, be that for herbicides and pesticides or the novel broadcasting of seeds and fertilisers (where a uniform application rate has been achieved).
A maximum payload of 20 litres/kg for extended flight time
The T20 drone can carry up to 20 litres (20kg) per mission and cover 30 acres (12 hectares) per hour. It is equipped with eight nozzles and high volume pumps which can dispense liquids at rates of up to six litres per minute. It features a new four-channel electromagnetic flow meter design and is capable of monitoring the four hoses individually, this ensures an efficient flow rate for each nozzle. DJI say that the nozzles on this new T20 design have been optimized to achieve ‘a 20% improvement on the uniformity of spray droplets and the effective spray width of 7 metres’.
An obstacle avoidance system for day and/or night flights
The DJI AGRAS T20 is equipped with an Omnidirectional Digital Radar system, which can detect obstacles from all horizontal directions. The drone is able to automatically circumvent any obstacles whilst flying over various terrains, thus ensuring a high level of operational safety (especially useful when confronted with trees and power lines etc.).
Featuring a built-in RTK centimeter-level positioning system and RTK dongles, centimeter-level waypoint recording is enabled, strengthening operations greatly and ensuring the accuracy of the T20’s precision spraying job.
The drone is fitted with a real-time FPV camera and TWO searchlights, providing users with comprehensive live views even during low-light operations – yes the drone can be flown in darkness and is even water resistant – the whole aircraft is washable.
The T20 is foldable for ease of transport
In an effort to deliver improved portability vs. other drones, the modular design enables the DJI AGRAS T20 to fold and unfold in seconds. The spray tank and battery are both swappable, reducing downtime and
increasing workflow significantly.
The smart controller comes with an ultra-bright 5.5-inch display, which remains viewable even under direct sunlight conditions. It also supports external battery packs and can last twice as long as other remote controllers, perfect for lengthy or heavy workloads.
